How To Heal Your Osteoporosis

As you age, your body stops absorbing calcium, which can lead to a condition called osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which your bones essentially develop small holes in them (making them less dense) and become more prone to breaking, which can be beyond frightening. One of the biggest concerns that doctors have with their osteoporosis patients is that if they fall, they will break a big bone like a hip which can be a bit debilitating. So, what can you do if you have recently been diagnosed?

Take Calcium Supplements

Taking calcium supplements is one of the best ways that you can help to build back bone mass, but it's not always easily absorbed by your bones and your body. To help with the absorption rate, you will also need to take a Vitamin D supplement with it to help. Your doctor may recommend that you take a supplement that has a combination of both of these things so that you don't have to take too many things a day; just make sure that you take it with a big glass of water to also help you absorb it.

Do Some Biodensity Exercises

Similar to building muscles by breaking down tissue, you need to also strengthen your bone mass by lifting weight. One of the things that a lot of doctors worry about though is their osteoporosis patients getting small bone fractures when they lift too much weight. Luckily, there is a technique called biodensity.

Biodensity therapy is a strengthening system to help you safely and efficiently build back your bone mass to help treat your osteoporosis. By sitting in a chair-like device, you will push your bones to do several movements including a chest press, a leg lift, a vertical lift, and a core pull. Each biodensity session is typically only a few minutes and you will do each session a few times a week. During each session, you will be supervised and will push your bones to do some heavy lifting.

Go For Small Walks

In addition to doing some biodensity exercises, your doctor may also recommend that you do some light walking. Walking is another strength-building exercise that can help you safely build up your bone mass and density.
